Also right up their with my fav of favs is Bartosz Jastal from Poland. I love this guy’s work. So gritty and interesting that I am never bored by what I see……but am always intriqued to see more. His photojournalist style is wonderfully unique. He captures moods and expressions in such a way that I haven’t seen many photpgraphers compare with. He doesn’t just focus on the Bride & Groom at the expense of the rest of those present but manages to incorporate everyone into his images – and all of their character.

He also sees the world a little similar visually to how I do – noticing all the little details – reflections, angles, gaps etc which make for extremely interesting photos and of course I’m not bias.

Mostly I think Bartosz is the master of people. He captures their character and transports you into that personal intimate world….you get to see how life may have weathered them, how there are moments of true joy, tiredness, elation and sadness – within one individual person’s life.  I like Bartosz’s ability to make all the people in the photo matter – they are all important and no one is relagated to act as a  ‘backdrop’.

I feel absolutely satisfied when I admire Bartosz’s work and in a world of faster, more NOW! I am grateful that their there is a true artist who makes you slow down, reflect and reminds you what it is to be human. I find his images timeless.

I also like how he has the ability to work well in both colour and black and white. He understands both mediums and uses them to his advantage. Multi-talented!

I often feel transported into period movie when I look at his work or like I’m watching an old newsreel on war footage.  A very gifted artist.

And of course because I am a travel/documentary photographer I also love his travel photos and amazing portraiture work……………………
